The Fremont County patent attorney who telecommutes to the Boulder office of law firm Lathrop & Gage has become the third Republican to bid for the House seat being vacated by term-limited Rep. Tom Massey.  The Cañon City recently filed his HD-60 candidate paperwork with the Colorado Secretary of State’s office. Barton, who has an electrical and computer engineering degree, was the originator of an early Intel processor, according to Lathrop & Gage’s website.

HE SAID IT: “Our country is far too dominated by the social scientists, and if you look at the legislatures in our country, they are almost all dominated by lawyers who do not have technical backgrounds. We need to consider the practical effect of a legislation rather than just the emotional effect.” –Steve Barton, a patent attorney who telecommutes to the Boulder office of Lathrop & Gage and recently submitted a bid for Colorado’s House of Representatives.
